Manicure vs pedicure: what is the difference?
A manicure focuses on your hands and fingernails, while a pedicure is dedicated to your feet and toenails. Both services include skin care, nail shaping, and your choice of polish — the difference is simply which part of the body is treated.
Which should you choose?
At Ongles Maily, many clients combine a manicure and a pedicure in a single visit for complete care from fingertip to toe. Here is everything you need to know to choose between them — or book both. A manicure begins with a warm water soak to soften the skin around your nails. Your technician gently pushes back or removes cuticles, then files and shapes your nails to your preferred shape — square, round, almond, or stiletto. A nourishing lotion is applied and a hand massage follows before the polish is applied. At Ongles Maily, all tools are sterilized after each client. A pedicure follows a similar flow but adds an extra step: exfoliation and a heel scrub to remove calluses that build up from daily walking. The extended foot soak is deeply relaxing and relieves tired, aching feet. Your technician then applies a moisturizing balm, performs a foot and lower-leg massage, and finishes with nail polish. If you need to choose just one service, think about which nails are most visible in your daily life. If you work with your hands or wear rings, prioritize a manicure. If you love open-toe shoes or suffer from dry heels, a pedicure will give you immediate comfort and visible results. For the best results, most of our clients schedule a manicure every two weeks and a pedicure every three to four weeks.
